Week 2 – LL League XC Results (9/10/19)

Garden Spot, Lancaster Catholic, and N. Lebanon @ Columbia

Boys:

Northern Lebanon‘s Gage Krall (sr) hasn’t lost this season and already has 2 sub-17 min efforts and 1 sub-16 min run under his belt. He is the early season favorite in the LL League with Cedar Crest‘s Tommy Bildheiser close behind.

Lancaster Catholic get’s 3 big section II wins today. Close battle against N. Lebanon.

Girls:

Lancaster Catholic goes 3-0 on the day.

Cedar Crest, JP McCaskey, and Warwick @ Penn Manor

Boys:

Cedar Crest’s Tommy Bildheiser (jr) keeps rolling. He’s off to a great start, winning today in 16:52. Jeremy Bell (sr) of Warwick is also off to a hot start. He went sub-17 min at PTXC and goes even faster today in 16:54. Cedar Crest goes 4-0 while Warwick gets a slight upset over JP McCaskey.

Girls:

Gwyneth Young (jr, Cedar Crest) goes 2-0 in league competition with a nice win today over strong competition from Anna Martin (jr, Warwick) and Arielle Breuninger (jr, JP McCaskey). Strong junior class in the LL League this season.

Donegal, Lampeter-Strasburg, and Octorara @ Lancaster Mennonite

Boys:

Lampeter-Strasburg goes 3-0 on the day and takes home the individual win with Daniel McMichael (sr) running 17:59. Octorara freshman Lucas Thaler was 2nd.

 

Girls:

Donegal girls squeak one out against Lampeter-Strasburg in a key section II match-up. LS goes 1-2 overall with Colleen Gilbert (sr) and Micah Gordley (sr), but Donegal’s team depth prevails.

Cocalico, ELCO, and Manheim Central @ Annville-Cleona

 

Boys:

Manheim Central gets a key LL League Section II win over ELCO. ELCO senior Mitchell Gray is running very well so far early in the season as he picks up the victory today in 17:00.

Girls:

Manheim Central with the nail-biter over Annville-Cleona. Meet goes to a tie-breaker with MC getting the nod with their #6 performer’s 10th place finish. Braeten Peters (so, Annville-Cleona) with the win today coming off of her sub-20 min performance at LVC this past weekend.

Conestoga Valley and Lebanon @ Manheim Township

Boys:

Manheim Township picked up victories against Lebanon and Conestoga Valley. Tyler Stevens (so, Manheim Township) gets the individual win in 17:03. Conestoga Valley sophomore Emmanuel Gitonga (2nd, 17:05) and Township senior Riley Horton (3rd, 17:08) were close behind.

Girls:

Manheim Township goes 2-0 on the day against Conestoga Valley and Lebanon. Township junior Chloe Kline led from the gun and won in 21:05. CV sophomore Kylynn Frankford (2nd, 21:48) edges out Township senior Ava Pasewicz (3rd, 21:52) in the last 200m for 2nd.

Elizabethtown, Ephrata, and Solanco @ Hempfield

Boys:

Hempfield put in a dominating performance, sweeping the top 5 spots in a meet held on their home course. Maybe even better for Hempfield was their close spread between runners 1-5 of 16:31-16:53. They’ll look to challenge Cedar Crest for the league regular season title. Jack Mieszkalski (sr, Hempfield) is enjoying a successful return to XC after suffering a season ending injury mid-way through his 2018 season. He wins the individual race in 16:31.

Girls:

Hempfield scores the sweep in this match-up against Ephrata, Elizabethtown, and Solanco. Ephrata suffers two defeats by the smallest margins, losing to Hempfield in a tie breaker and to Elizabethtown by 1 point. They’ll be competitive at the league championship meet. Elizabethtown’s Katie Locker (sr) and Sierra Kapcsos (so) go 1-2 running 19:37 and 19:55, respectively.
