Week 3 Review/Week 4 Preview (10-4-20)

Believe it or not, we are at the mid-point for the season. With your support, I have posted results for all but a few teams (haven’t seen anything from Big Spring, York Catholic, Bishop McDevitt, Middletown, and Camp Hill). If you have any results that you don’t see posted, please send them to me at centralparunner@gmail.com (thanks!). With the lack of invitationals this season, getting any results posted is helpful in highlighting/promoting the hard work of our area athletes.

At this point in the year we are beginning to get a really good idea who will battle for the coveted team qualifying spots at districts and states. For today’s post, we’ll focus on the team race for state qualification. Let’s start with looking at likely district qualifying teams.

Projected District 3 qualifying teams for AAA and AA (every class A team competes):

Class AAA

Boys

BCIAA – Twin Valley and Exeter

LL League – Hempfield and Cedar Crest with JP McCaskey looking to challenge.

Mid-Penn – Carlisle and Chambersburg with Hershey closing the gap.

YAIAA – York Suburban with Dallastown, Gettysburg, and South Western battling it out for the 2nd spot.

Girls

BCIAA – Governor Mifflin and Exeter

LL League – JP McCaskey, Manheim Township, and Warwick battling for 2 spots.

Mid-Penn – Chambersburg with Mechanicsburg and Hershey battling for the 2nd spot.

YAIAA – Northeastern and Dallastown

Class AA

Boys

BCIAA – Wyomissing and Oley Valley

LL League – Lampeter-Strasburg and Donegal

Mid-Penn – Boiling Springs and ??? (I’m lacking results from the MP, so more info needed)

YAIAA – Kennard-Dale and Susquehannock

Girls

BCIAA – Berks Catholic and Conrad Weiser with Wyomissing lurking close behind.

LL League – Lancaster Catholic and Lampeter-Strasburg

Mid-Penn – Boiling Springs and ??? (I’m lacking results from the MP, so more info needed)

YAIAA – West York and East York

Projected State qualifying teams:

Class AAA

Boys – Hempfield, Cedar Crest, or York Suburban with Carlisle, Twin Valley, and Chambersburg still very much in the hunt. As of today, I’d go with Hempfield.

Girls – Chambersburg. Mechanicsburg, Hershey, and Northeastern will challenge, but Chambersburg gets the nod.

Class AA

Boys – Kennard-Dale with Lampeter-Strasburg closing the gap.

Girls – Looks to be a battle between Berks Co foes as Berks Catholic and Conrad Weiser will likely battle it out to the end.

Class A

Boys – This one may be the most difficult to project. Kutztown has been #1, but state medalist Mitchell Brett has only run once this season. Trinity enters the fold this week as Virginia transfer Jack Warner gives them a legitimate #1. Tulpehocken and Fairfield should also contend. I will be  looking for the results of this week’s match-up between Delone Catholic and York Catholic. Either of those 2 could also contend. This one is wide open.

Girls – I have not seen any results from Camp Hill or York Catholic making this one difficult to project. Annville-Cleona will definitely challenge for the title.
