Individual Race
The top 4 runners from the 2019 YAIAA XC Championships are back this year. Cole Adams (jr, York Suburban) took home the individual title last year and his season to date suggests he is ready to repeat. He has yet to lose this year, but will face his toughest competition Saturday, He is the pre-race favorite. Cole Perry (jr, Northeastern) was 4th a year ago, but has made nice strides forward this year. He placed 7th in the AAA field at the PIAA Foundation Invite in late September. The Kennard-Dale trio of Garrett Quinan (jr), Collin Wolf (sr), and Dan Gibney (sr) should factor into the individual race as well. Wolf was the runner-up at this meet last season, finishing only 2-seconds back of Adams. Grant Kern (jr, York Suburban) came on really strong during the post-season last year and should battle for a top 3 finish this year.
This is an incredibly deep field. Other runners looking for top 10 finishes include: Dallastown’s Jakob Rager (so); Gettysburg’s Drew Cole (jr) and Jacob Bordatto (sr); South Western’s Shernel Singh (so), Evan Freil (jr), and Shernan Singh (so); Susquehannock’s Matthew O’Brien (so); West York’s Thomas Urrunaga (sr); Northeastern’s James Herman (sr); Central York’s Sean Baxter (jr) and Christian Henry (fr); and York Catholic’s Moseley Driscoll (jr).
Team Race
Kennard-Dale (AA) is the closest thing to a lock to earn 1 of the 2 district qualifying spots in either AA and AAA classifications. They may be the overall favorites for the YAIAA team title as well. They should get pushed by AAA foes York Suburban and South Western, our top 2 ranked YAIAA AAA squads. Gettysburg, Central York, and Dallastown could also battle for 1 of the 2 AAA spots. All 3 are currently ranked within our District 3 top 15. York Catholic has a strong program and are currently ranked #1 in our District 3 class A rankings.
