A couple of notes before we get started:

• We begin our state rankings by ranking 2022 State Championship teams based on returnees. We next examine each district using results from the 2022 District Championships to appreciate the number of returnees per team and the impact of graduations.
• Invitationals are the only races factored into individual/team rankings once the season starts.
• Head to head battles at invitationals are heavily weighted. The exception to this rule would be if an athlete did not compete/run (DNR) that would have likely made a difference in the final team scores.
• If any athlete misses 2 or more invitationals in a row they are removed from their team’s projected top 7. This should capture the impact of injuries and from those runners who chose not to compete in 2023.
• The rankings will likely receive a major overhaul following this weekend’s PIAA Foundation Invitational…
