Vertical Raise Runner’s of the Week – Week 7

Adam Kingston, sr Manheim Township – Kingston ran away from a strong field at the LL League Championships to claim victory. His time of 15:10 (!!) was 4 seconds faster than the time posted by now Notre Dame runner and former Lampeter Strasburg standout Colin Whitaker.

Lydia Drago, sr Governor Mifflin – Drago took home the BCIAA title with ease, winning by 51 seconds and setting a meet record with her time of 18:41!

Underclassmen of the Week

Theo Oppermann, so State College – Oppermann placed 5th in a loaded top 5 at Mid-Penn’s in a time of 15:54!

Leah Navarro, fr Dallastown – Navarro defeated fellow freshman Lyla Eltz (South Western) by 14 seconds to win her first YAIAA individual title. Her winning time was 18:16!

Vertical Raise Runner’s of the Week – Week 6:

Carter Smith, jr Mifflin County – We’re beginning to sound like a broken record, but Mifflin County’s Smith wins his 3rd Runner of the Week honor following his 15:05 win at Lehigh University’s Paul Short Run!

Elena Barrall, sr Manheim Township – Barrall has been coming on strong over the past few weeks. She turned in the fastest performance amongst Central PA runners at Lehigh University’s Paul Short placing 8th overall in a time of 18:13!

Underclassmen of the Week

Kyle Reidenbaugh, so Ephrata – Kyle earns his 2nd underclassmen Runner of the Week award on the season. He placed 5th in the “Brown” race at Lehigh University’s Paul Short Run in a time of 16:07!

Lyla Eltz, fr South Western – Eltz wins her 4th Runner of the Week honor on the season following her win in the “White” race at Lehigh University’s Paul Short Run. Her time was an impressive 18:25, winning the race by 11 seconds!

Vertical Raise Runner’s of the Week – Week 5:

Carter Smith, jr Mifflin County – Smith earns his 2nd Runner of the Week award following his win at 6 Flags Wild Safari Invitational in New Jersey. His time of 15:32 was also the fastest posted amongst 4 varsity races on the day. He remains undefeated on the season!

Ana Bondy, jr Carlisle – Proved her CPAR #1 Ranking in District 3 was no fluke as she was the top PA finisher at the competitive Carlisle Invitational. Her time of 18:13 was just 13-seconds back of the overall winner. This is her 3rd Runner of the Week award this season!

Underclassmen of the Week

Liam Hodge, so Hempfield – Hodge was the fastest District 3 underclassman at the Carlisle Invitational, running 16:42. At a tri-meet earlier in the week he finished ahead of 2 other top LL League sophomores in Ephrata’s Kyle Reidenbaugh and Conestoga Valley’s Ethan Schnapf.

Lyla Eltz, fr South Western – Eltz is making what seems to be a weekly appearance on these lists. One can’t overlook her 18:25 run at Carlisle this past weekend. She placed 9th in the Girl’s Challenge Race, the most competitive race of the day.

Vertical Raise Runner’s of the Week – Week 4:

Leah Navarro, fr Dallastown – The Dallastown freshman ran the fastest time of the day at Ben Bloser posting a blazing time of 18:29. It was her best race of the year and shows she is an individual title contender in District 3 AAA.

David Giles, sr Wyomissing – Giles dominated the field to win the Class A/AA race at Ben Bloser. His time of 15:45 was the fastest amongst all races on Saturday as he won by 20-seconds.

Underclassmen of the Week

Neila Granger, so Dallastown – In just her 2nd race of the season, Neila Granger placed 2nd to teammate Leah Navarro at Ben Bloser, running 18:42.

Daniel Dunkleberger, fr Lower Dauphin – Dunkleberger placed 24th at PIAA Foundation in the Class AAA race. He posted the fastest time by a freshman covering the difficult course in 16:58.

Vertical Raise Runner’s of the Week – Week 3:

Ana Bondy, jr Carlisle – Bondy has been unbeatable so far in 2024. The Carlisle junior stormed home in a time of 18:15 to win the PSU Spiked Shoe Invitational by 18-seconds over Williamsport Area’s Isabelle Sanders (so) and by 25-seconds over 3rd place finisher Baylee Espinosa (jr) of Lewisburg.

Isaac Oppermann, sr State College – Isaac took home the victory at Penn State’s Spiked Shoe Invitational in a phenomenal time of 15:19. He defeated a strong opponent in Jonathan Hess (sr, Lewisburg) to win. Oppermann is a name to know come the AAA State Championships.

Underclassmen of the Week

Lyla Eltz, fr South Western – Lyla took home the individual crown at the Briarwood Invittional, running a time of 19:42. She took the win by 33-seconds! Eltz may be the top freshman in Central PA this season.

Theo Oppermann, so State College – Theo placed 4th at the PSU Spiked Shoe Invitational. He led all underclassmen with a time of 15:48. State College defeated University High (WV) to win the team title. State College could be the team to beat in PIAA Class AAA this season.

Vertical Raise Runner’s of the Week – Week 2:

Ruby Garner-Valle, so JP McCaskey – Running at Manheim Township in the first LL League regular season meet of the season, Garner-Valle nearly broke the course record. Her time of 18:47 missed Arielle Breuninger’s (formerly JP McCaskey, now at UPenn) Course Record time of 18:45 from 2020. Ruby currently ranks #2 in our District 3 AAA Individual Rankings.

Carter Smith, jr Mifflin County – Smith was a breakout star on the track for the Huskies in 2023/2024. He appears set to be a breakout star in XC this fall. He won PTXC 15 in a blazing time of 15:51 and has inserted himself as one of the favorites for a state title in November.

Underclassmen of the Week

Julia Leady, so Daniel Boone – Placed 2nd in the PTXC “Blue” race while posting the fastest time amongst Central PA athletes on the day running 19:10. She made a huge jump in our CPAR Individual Rankings to #5 in District 3 AAA.

Jacob Roskovensky, so Dallastown – Was the top underclassman at PTXC placing 17th in the “Gold” race in a time of 16:37. He is now the top ranked underclassman in our District 3 AAA Individual Rankings, finishing the week as the #23 ranked runner overall.

The Vertical Raise Runner’s of the Week for the first 2 weekends of the season are:

Ana Bondy, jr Carlisle – Set a Course Record at Warwick in the season opening Warrior Twilight Tune-up. She ran the 3k course in a time of 10:23.1, bettering the mark set in 2023 by Ella Wolfe (Hempfield). She then won the Enos Yeager Invitational at Chambersburg this past Saturday covering the 2.33 mile course in 14:32. She finished 43-seconds ahead of 2nd place finisher Lily Hayes (so) of Northern.

Chase Choudhry, jr Exeter Township – Choudhry finished 2nd at the Northampton Invitational, covering the fast 5k course in a time of 15:31. This was the 3rd fastest time run at the Invitational in the past 5 years! For a frame of reference, Gary Martin ran 15:13 back in 2021.

Underclassmen of the Week:

Lyla Eltz, fr South Western – Won the freshman/sophomore race at Run for the Chocolate and posted the fastest time of the day, running 20:25!

Kyle Reidenbaugh, so Ephrata – Posted the fastest underclassmen time of the day at last weekend’s Warrior Twilight Tune-Up. He posted a 3k time of 9:19.
