The 2025 Mid-Penn Conference Cross Country Championships unfolded largely as expected, with State College sweeping both the boys’ and girls’ team titles. The State College boys delivered a dominant performance, reinforcing their status as the team to beat heading into the state meet in three weeks.
Individually, senior Ana Bondy (Carlisle) and senior Carter Smith (Mifflin County) looked in complete control. Bondy broke away over the 3rd mile to win in 18:40, 15 seconds ahead of 2nd place finisher Evie Younkin (so, State College). Smith broke the Mid-Penn Championship Course Record running 15:30 to win. He held off a challenge from State College junior Theo Oppermann, who helped to push the pace and kept things close. As Smith sets his sights on a second consecutive individual state title, Oppermann looks ready to stay with the lead pack and make his own mark at States.
