Week 3 – LL League Results (9/17/19)

Cocalico and Octorara @ Northern Lebanon

Boys

Northern Lebanon picks up two section II victories this evening, defeating Octorara and Cocalico. Gage Krall (N. Lebanon) keeps rolling, running yet another sub-17 minute time. Octorara knocks off Cocalico. Watch Octorara over the next couple of years as they have a very young squad, led by freshman Lucas Thaler.

Girls

Northern Lebano picks up 2 wins today. Rebecca Cassidy (Octorara) takes the individual win by nearly 2-minutes. She’s been looking strong. She runs 21:32 today.

Ephrata @ Cedar Crest

Boys

Cedar Crest, the #1 ranked team in our D3AAA rankings, hosted Ephrata today and did not disappoint, sweeping the top 7 spots. Tommy Bildheiser remains undefeated in LL League competition, winning today in 17:02. Ray Truex was the top Ephrata runner today going 18:09 and placing 8th.

Girls

The Falcons hosted a solid Mounts squad today and came away with a nice victory, 23-34. Gwyneth Young remains undefeated in LL League competition and runs an impressive 19:20 for the win. Cedar Crest put 3 runners ahead of a very strong Ephrata 1-2-3 trio. Cedar Crest currently sits #8 in our D3AAA rankings.

Lancaster Catholic and Lancaster Mennonite @ ELCO

Boys

Mitchell Gray (ELCO) went after the course record today and came close! The course record of 16:45 was challenged, but will stay safe for now. Gray runs 16:53 and wins by over a minute, missing that record by only 8-seconds. Lancaster Catholic picks up a close victory over ELCO and also defeat Lancaster Mennonite to go 2-0 on the day.

Girls

Lancaster Catholic picks up victories over ELCO and Lancaster Mennonite today. Isabel Zwally (ELCO) earns the individual win in 22:24.

Annville-Cleona and Columbia @ Donegal

Boys

Donegal takes the victory today over both Annville-Cleona and Columbia as they place 5 in the top 7. Annville-Cleona’s Jack Tshudy takes the individual win in 18:20.

Girls

Donegal girls have another very strong showing as they earn wins over Annville-Cleona and Columbia. Braetan Peters (Annville-Cleona) crosses the finish line first in 21:45. Peters is then followed by 6 Donegal runners, led by Myra Naqvi‘s 2nd place finish in 21:51.

Linden Hall, Lebanon, and Solanco @ JP McCaskey

Boys

Stephen Schousen leads the way for JP McCaskey as they take victories over Lebanon and Solanco today. Schousen goes 17:19 for the win and is followed closely behind by teammate’s Alex Miller (17:31) and Lachlan McLane (17:41). Lebanon moves to 3-3 on the season and keeps taking positive steps forward in the development/growth of their program.

Girls

The Breuninger’s set the pace today for JP McCaskey going 1-2. Arielle runs 21:01 while Milana goes 22:03. Elili Ayana was 3rd in 22:19. The McCaskey girls are a team that could be added to our D3AAA rankings watch list. They are putting together a solid 1-5.

Elizabethtown and Penn Manor @ Conestoga Valley

Boys

Elizabethtown takes 2 wins during Tuesday’s action. Jesse Myers led the way for the Bears picking up the individual win in 17:11. Penn Manor‘s Brady Lehman ran his best race of the season to finish 2nd in 17:24. Most encouraging for Penn Manor was the return of Graham Thomas. This was the first race this season for Thomas (injured) who was one of our pre-season league and D3AAA individual favorites.

Girls

Katie Locker remains undefeated in LL League competition. She picks up the win in 20:02. The Elizabethtown girls also take 2 victories on the day. Conestoga Valley nearly pulled out the victory over the Bears, but lost by the narrowest margins, 27-28.

Garden Spot and Manheim Central @ Lampeter-Strasburg

Boys

LS defeats both Garden Spot and Manheim Central and puts together a very tight 2-6 pack, separated by a mere 19-seconds. That could spell good things for LS moving forward. Pioneer senior Daniel McMichael took the victory for LS running 17:13.

Girls

LS senior’s Colleen Gilbert and Micah Gordley continue to give the Pioneers one of the best 1-2 combos in the league. Gilbert took the victory on Tuesday running 19:43. LS took care of business picking up 2 more wins on their season.

Hempfield and Manheim Township @ Warwick

Boys

The Hempfield boys look to be a legitimate threat to Cedar Crest both in the LL League and District III. They picked up 2 more wins at today’s meet at Warwick. Jeremy Bell (Warwick) looked very strong in claiming the individual win in 16:53. Since this is a new course for Warwick, that time is the new course record.

Girls

Anna Martin led the entire way and claimed the victory and new course record (new course) in 20:29. Hempfield showed how they could claim post-season success by grouping their #1-5 runners in a :28s spread.
