Spotlight 2022 – Mackenzie Kelley, Altoona

Hi I’m Mackenzie Kelley a 2022 Senior at Altoona Area High School!  Next year I plan on attending Wittenberg University for nursing, as well as running xc and track and field.  I can not wait to be a tiger for the next four years with the amazing coach and my amazing teammates up at Witt.

Future Aspirations – After graduating college I plan on hopefully going to work at a Children’s Hospital, and to also begin ultra running.

Favorite Subject – Biology

Favorite Teachers – Mr. Lowe and Mr. Mitchell

Favorite Book – Can’t Hurt Me by David Goggins

Favorite Movie – The Little Mermaid

Favorite Quote – “Think good thoughts and you’ll fly”

Favorite Thing To Do When Not Competing – Traveling with my mom, walking my dogs, watching Navy football games, hanging out with friends and spending time with my family.

Something That Would Most People Wouldn’t Know About Me- My twin sisters ran cross country in college so I never wanted to run, so I was a basketball and volleyball player.  Until I joined the track team to stay in shape and I fell in love with running.

Favorite Shoe Brand- Hoka

Favorite HS XC/TF Invitational- Grove City Invitational, because after the race the girls team would go shopping at the outlets.

Best HS Memory- I have so many amazing memories from my high school years of running.  My favorite memory would have to be my last home race this year with the high schoolers and my middle school girls.

Advice To Younger Student Athletes- Don’t underestimate your abilities and the potential you have.  Don’t be upset over how you do in one race, one race doesn’t define who you are as an athlete.
