Preview: District 3 Class AA Girls XC

York Suburban won the 2023 District 3 team title with Wyomissing 2nd and Annville-Cleona 3rd. Suburban moves to Class AAA this season and Wyomissing graduated 2023 District 3 individual champion Addie Cohen. Cohen never finished worse than 5th at Districts in her 4 year high school career! This leaves the door open for some new teams to claim 1 of the 3 State qualifying spots. We’re rolling with Bishop McDevitt heading into the season. Their top 4 could all finish inside the top 25 at Districts. Annville-Cleona returns 6 of 7 from their 2023 State qualifying team and could place 3 individuals inside the top 25. Eastern York returns a lot of depth and is our pre-season pick to grab the 3rd and final state qualifying spot. Expect a tight battle, though, with as many as 7 teams having a realistic shot at finishing top 3.

We could be looking at a 4 person race for the individual title. Lila Shore (sr, Trinity, Mackenzie Stellmach (jr, Annville-Cleona), Aubrey Ressler (jr, Pequea Valley), and Mya Trotty (sr, Octorara) will all be racing for the individual win. Lila Shore is coming off a fantastic spring and continues to show solid year over year progression. She is our pre-season pick to win gold. While she is the top returner from the 2023 District 3 meet, Octorara senior Mya Trotty has the top returning time from States. At the state meet, the 4 aforementioned girls were separated by just 16-seconds. Should be a fantastic race!
