Results: 2026 BCIAA XC Champs
Individual Champion: Julia Leady, Daniel Boone Area, 18:22
Team Champion: Governor Mifflin, 35 points
Individual Race
Without a doubt, Daniel Boone senior and Elon University commit Julia Leady took the individual title at the BCIAA XC Championships with a dominant performance, running 18:22 to win by a full minute. Leady entered as the favorite and delivered, continuing her undefeated cross country season.
A pair of Governor Mifflin runners, Allie Darrenkamp and Melissa Sweigart, finished second and third in 19:22 and 19:36, respectively, creating a clear gap between themselves and the rest of the field. Another pair, this time from Oley Valley, followed in fourth and fifth, with Julianna Gourley and Marli Laity leading the way for the Lynx. Governor Mifflin and Oley Valley continued to separate themselves from the rest of the field with their third runners, as freshman Remy Laino finished sixth for Governor Mifflin and Jillian Rogers placed seventh for Oley Valley.
Matilda Walborn (Schuylkill Valley) finished eighth in 20:51, making her the final runner in the field to break 21 minutes. Zoey Vallone (Kutztown Area) placed ninth, finishing 18 seconds behind Walborn but narrowly ahead of Twin Valley’s top runner, Ella Werner, who rounded out the top 10 in 21:11.

Team Race
Two of the top teams in their respective classes, Governor Mifflin and Oley Valley, were projected to finish as the top two teams, and they did just that. We knew heading into the meet that Governor Mifflin would be difficult to beat, projecting the Mustangs to score 37 points. They exceeded expectations, however, taking the title with just 35 points. Governor Mifflin placed three runners in the top six, with Allie Darrenkamp finishing second, Melissa Sweigart third, and Remy Laino sixth. The Mustangs may have the best chance of any team to take down Dallastown, the top-ranked team in Class 3A all season. Having Sweigart join Darrenkamp near the front could provide the boost Governor Mifflin needs. The Mustangs’ fourth runner, Molly Orndorf, finished just outside the top 10 in 11th place. Sophomores Breanna Detterline and Emma Walsh finished nearly side by side in 15th and 16th, respectively, as the team’s fifth and sixth runners. Peyton Herbein rounded out the top seven with a 23rd-place finish.
Oley Valley put its top three in the mix with Governor Mifflin’s, as Julianna Gourley and Marli Laity finished fourth and fifth, just ahead of Laino. Jillian Rogers followed in seventh place. Penelope Smith and Ava Estelle were the Lynx’s fourth and fifth finishers, placing 29th and 31st, respectively. Oley Valley had a solid showing and will look to carry that momentum into next Saturday’s District Championship.
We expected a very close race for third, but Daniel Boone Area made sure that wasn’t the case. The Blazers finished 29 points ahead of fourth place after a strong performance on Tuesday. Julia Leady led the team with a one-point performance, but she had plenty of support from Sarah Shank in 13th, Audry Dresch in 27th, Andrea Segaline in 33rd, and Ella Palumbo in 50th. Kimberly Cremi placed 58th, while Anastasia Pickering finished 68th. Of the top three teams, Daniel Boone is positioned to return the most runners from its top seven, with six of the seven being juniors or younger, including two freshmen in the top five.
Wilson finished fourth with a solid showing from its top seven. Lauren Mengal led the Bulldogs by more than a minute, placing 20th in 21:58. The team’s second through fifth runners were separated by less than a minute. Edelyn Collado Fries led that group, finishing 28th in 23:04, with Mia Thompson close behind in 30th at 23:09. Lily Santoro and Sofia D’Alessandro rounded out the top five, placing 32nd and 36th in 23:26 and 23:52, respectively. Wilson is another team with plenty of young talent, as its top three runners were all sophomores and Santoro is a freshman.
Exeter Township was projected to finish nine points behind Wilson and ultimately finished just eight points behind the Bulldogs in fifth. Junior Lena Bluestone led the Eagles with a 12th-place finish in 21:34. Freshman Noelle Adams was Exeter’s second finisher, placing 22nd, just outside the top 20, while Chloe LaRiviere followed in 26th. Cecilia Vogel finished fourth for the Eagles in 48th, and Maria Conte placed 56th to round out the top five. Exeter Township did not have a senior competing on Tuesday, making this fifth-place finish even more encouraging for the team’s future.
Conrad Weiser had a strong performance on Tuesday, carrying momentum into Districts with a sixth-place finish. Abby Petersheim led the Scouts with a 17th-place finish before a tightly packed group of Quinn Lowery, Lily Auchenbach, Mila Stoudt, and Flori Marquez finished 37th, 39th, 40th, and 41st, respectively, to round out the team’s top five.
