Individual Champion: Julia Leady, senior, Daniel Boone (9:56.2)
Julia Leady (Daniel Boone) was the favorite entering the meet, and she lived up to the hype by taking the individual title and course record in 9:56.2, crushing Ana Bondy’s previous record of 10:06.5. Bondy was the PIAA Class 3A State Runner-Up last season, which could be a sign of big things to come for Leady this fall. Ruby Garner-Valle (JP McCaskey) just missed out on the individual title, finishing as the runner-up while also breaking last season’s course record with her time of 9:57.7. Leady and Garner-Valle are two of the top five runners in the District, and we expect them to continue battling as the season progresses.
Gabrielle Houck was one of many Red Lion athletes who had big days, finishing third with the sixth-fastest time in course history at 10:16.6. Carolynn Main (JP McCaskey) was another runner predicted to finish in the top five, and she delivered with a fourth-place finish and a new top-10 course time of 10:23.4. Perhaps the biggest surprise was JP McCaskey’s Vivian Salerno, who placed fifth for the Red Tornadoes in 10:31.3. We know Salerno has great top-end speed, but she is proving that she is a threat in cross country as well.
Chloe Joslyn (Boiling Springs), Gabrielle Grifone (Elizabethtown Area), and Reagan Gates (Pequea Valley) all finished in a tight pack, separated by just 1.9 seconds. Joslyn made a strong move over the final lap, climbing three spots to finish sixth, while Grifone moved up one spot to take seventh. Gates dropped one spot late, ultimately finishing eighth overall.
Lily Hayes (Northern York) was the 10th-place finisher, using a strong push at the end to narrowly beat out the top freshman at the meet, Kate Ferris (Trinity). Ferris is looking to play a key role for Trinity this season after finishing first among all freshmen in the race. Leila Testa (Conestoga Valley) was the second-fastest freshman at the meet, finishing four seconds behind Ferris with a time of 10:54.7. Lucy Stellmach (Annville-Cleona) separated herself from the rest of the freshman pack, finishing 13th overall in 10:59.4. Abigail Buckbee and Sienna Houseman of Hempfield could form the best freshman duo in the District this season, as both finished inside the top 20, placing 14th and 16th with times of 11:01.4 and 11:08.2, respectively.
Hershey had quite the night last night, and Lauren Nutt helped prove that point by finishing 15th in 11:02.2. Conestoga Valley has benefited from the new runners brought in this fall, with Rachel Lehman serving as their second finisher and placing 17th in 11:10.4. Alyssa Grifone (Elizabethtown Area), Emerson Moore (Garden Spot), and Caitlin Reynolds (Lancaster Catholic) all finished nearly side-by-side, with just 0.4 seconds separating the three runners. Grifone was the first of the trio across the line, placing 18th, followed by Moore in 19th and Reynolds in 20th.
Team Champion: Hempfield Black Knights, 181 Points.
Hempfield was crowned the winner of the 2026 Warwick Twilight Tune Up with 181 points, defeating District 1 competition Spring Ford by 30 points. Hempfield was led by two freshmen, Abigail Buckbee and Sienna Houseman, who both placed in the top 20. Gulianna Houseman was not far behind the top two, finishing 28th in 11:20.8. Hyrije Trinaku had a big day as well, finishing fourth for the Black Knights and 51st overall. Hempfield’s top five was rounded out by Claire Sahd, who finished 77th.
JP McCaskey finished in third place with 217 points, helped significantly by their top three runners. Ruby Garner-Valle, Carolynn Main, and Vivian Salerno combined for just 11 of the team’s 217 points. McCaskey finished the race strong, sitting in 10th place after the first lap before quickly moving up into third and holding onto the position for the remainder of the race.
Conestoga Valley had an impressive showing yesterday, finishing fourth behind JP McCaskey with 239 points. The Buckskins welcomed two new faces to the team this year, and both immediately made an impact as their top two runners. Freshman Leila Testa led the way, placing 12th, while Rachel Leaman, a transfer from Pequea Valley, finished 17th. Cailyn Denlinger and Eliza Hess finished almost side-by-side, placing 59th and 60th to make up the team’s third and fourth spots. Lila King rounded out CV’s top five, finishing 97th overall.
Elizabethtown was led by the Grifone sisters, who both placed in the top 20 and helped their squad finish with 251 points. Elizabethtown was another team that moved up throughout the race, starting in ninth after the first lap, moving to eighth on the second lap, and ultimately finishing fifth. The Bears’ third through fifth runners finished close together, with only seven seconds separating them. Olivia Black finished 72nd, Caleigh Troop finished 76th, and Lottie Silveira finished 84th.
Boys Recap:
Individual Champion: Ryne Coble, junior, Red Lion (8:53.4)
Ryne Coble of Red Lion ran the race like a champion, and that is exactly what he was last night. Coble sat in third place until the final lap, when he made a move into the top position and ultimately took the win. Coble was the favorite entering the meet and did not disappoint, running the second-fastest time in course history. Daniel Dunkleberger (Lower Dauphin) came just 1.2 seconds short of winning the individual title, finishing behind Coble while earning the third-fastest time in course history for second place. Liam Hodge (Hempfield) was another athlete projected to finish in the top five, and he delivered, running 8:58.4 to finish third overall and set a new top-10 mark in course history.
Max Hulays (Hershey) had a very strong performance to earn fourth place, narrowly missing the nine-minute mark with a time of 9:00.1. He just edged out Dover’s Alexander Myers, who also had a very strong day, finishing fifth in 9:00.3. Nathan Landers (Mechanicsburg) finished seventh in 9:01.3, while Ben Boyd (Annville-Cleona) was the top Class 2A runner, finishing eighth in 9:02.4. Jack Schlegel (Exeter Township) had a huge day to earn ninth place in 9:02.7, with Wyatt Wolfe (Cedar Crest) rounding out the top 10 in 9:03.6.
William Magagna was the top underclassman in the field, finishing 11th in 9:04.1 after moving up multiple spots on the final lap. Lance Engle also made a smart move over the final lap to earn 12th, running 9:07.8. Gus Grandi played a big role in the team title race as Hershey’s second runner, finishing 13th overall. Thomas Ardia was JP McCaskey’s fifth runner and finished in the top 15 among both the boys and girls, placing 14th in 9:09.2. Patrick Tanney (Trinity) narrowly missed beating Ardia, finishing just 0.2 seconds behind him in 15th place.
Judah Benoit (Mechanicsburg) continued moving up throughout the race and had the third-fastest final lap in the field to finish 16th overall. Gus Sufferlein was the top Class 1A runner, placing 17th in 9:11.0. Andrew Smith (Hershey) was also part of the team-title-winning Trojans, placing 18th as the team’s third runner across the line. Hayden Snavely (Cedar Crest) was the second Falcon across the line, running 9:13.5 to finish 19th. Xavier Prinzivalli (Ephrata) also ran 9:13.5 to finish 20th, but Snavely edged him out by the second decimal.
Team Champion: Hershey Trojans, 105 Points.
Hershey led the team title race from start to finish, sitting in first after the opening lap, remaining in first after the second lap, and ultimately taking the team victory. The Trojans had three finishers in the top 20, led by Max Hulays, followed by Gus Grandi, who finished eight seconds behind, and Andrew Smith, who was another four seconds back. Hershey also showed strong depth, with fourth runner Keiran Mahaffey placing 26th in 9:20.5. Luke Smith and Daniel Keating finished close together in 47th and 49th, respectively, giving the Trojans a strong 5-6 duo.
Cedar Crest was the second-place team, finishing 41 points behind Hershey, and they were without arguably their top runner, Zachary Margut. The Falcons’ depth stepped up regardless, while they also had strong low-stick finishes with Wyatt Wolfe placing in the top 10 and Hayden Snavely finishing 19th. Even without Margut, the Falcons had 10 runners finish inside the top 100, showcasing their impressive depth. Avery Gatto finished in the top 30, placing 27th as the team’s third runner, while Henry Wengert finished 39th for fourth on the team in 9:34.1. Ryan Zartman and Cameran Willis finished back-to-back in 55th and 56th, separated by just one second. Evan Weimer was the Falcons’ seventh runner and broke the 10-minute mark, running 9:55.6.
Hempfield had a very strong showing in the boys’ race as well, finishing third as a team with 181 points. The Black Knights were led by Liam Hodge, who provided a very low stick with his third-place finish. Carlo Abello also put together a strong performance, placing 24th overall and second for Hempfield. Isaac and Andrew Moore were big additions for the Black Knights this fall after transferring from Lancaster Catholic, with Isaac finishing 41st and Andrew placing 57th to make up their third and fourth runners. Hempfield’s fourth through seventh runners were tightly packed, with Andrew Moore leading the group in 9:47, followed by Josh Paglia in 9:48, Samuel Gokey in 9:49, and Grayson Sweitzer in 9:51. Hempfield has the pieces needed to be a successful team this season. With a low-stick runner up front and a tightly bunched pack behind him, the Black Knights could turn some heads this fall.
Lower Dauphin is very similar to Hempfield in how their roster is structured, with a very low stick in Daniel Dunkleberger followed by a tightly bunched group with plenty of depth. Dunkleberger was a big reason behind their fourth-place finish, placing second overall. Ben Barreca, Michael Sather, and Owen Falk finished within 10 spots of each other to make up their second through fourth runners. Austin Grow was their fifth runner, placing 77th in 9:55. Levi Dickinson and Carter Gern rounded out their top seven, with both finishing inside the top 100 and running 10:05 or faster.
JP McCaskey had a similar approach in the boys’ race as they did in the girls’ race, continually lowering their team score as the race progressed. The Red Tornadoes were seventh after one lap, moved up to sixth after two, and ultimately finished fifth. JP McCaskey has a very strong top three that all run closely together, led by Lance Engle, who finished 12th in 9:07. Thomas Ardia followed in 14th in 9:09, while Isaac Hoover placed 23rd in 9:15. Bryan Rodriguez and Oliver Cook rounded out the top five for JP McCaskey, placing 82nd and 87th, respectively.
